You said maybe

and upon persuasion

you acquiesced

I enjoyed imploring you.

You appeared at my doorstep

pinkish lips and stormy hair

I welcomed you in

wanting you more than ever.

We climbed mountains

descended peaks

revelling in one other

at least I did in you.

And then uphill turned downhill

close became distant

fondness fled into fear

I still know not why.

Our relationship became thin

whilst my love for you remained vast

it lives on,
